CA Articleship Registration

Articleship or practical training forms the most important part of CA curriculum, it is during this period that a student gathers all the practical knowledge of the field.

A candidate has to undergo a compulsory three year of practical training under a Chartered Accountant as a part of CA course.

Out of the total three years of practical training, it is mandatory to serve for two years under a practicing Chartered accountant. Although, in the final year of articleship a student may either continue his articleship under a practicing CA or can enroll for training under a CA in employment.

When to Start Articleship?
You can start articleship after clearing one or both groups of CA intermediate and Complete Four Weeks ICITSS before the commencement of Practical Training.

How to Register for CA Articleship

To start the articleship one has to purchase Form 102 and Form 103 from ICAI (cost Rs.50/-). Once you have purchased the form you will have to deposit them. Though one can download the forms for free from the Institute website, in that case, you will have to pay 50 rupees while submitting the form to the regional office.

Form 102-Deed of Articles
  • Execute the Deed of Articles on a “Non-Judicial Stamp Paper”. Or affix the “Special Adhesive Stamps” of the requisite value. 
  • The deed of articles must be executed for a period of 3 years. If your deed shows lesser time, it will not be accepted. 
  • The Deed of Articles must be executed in a printed form in duplicate. Both the Articled Assistant & the Chartered Accountant have to sign the Deed. 
  • The CA will keep the Original Copy of the Deed & the duplicate copy will be handed over to you. 
  • No need to submit the Deed to the ICAI for registration. 
Form 103: Statement of Particulars
The Form 103 has to be submitted in triplicate. One copy to be sent to ICAI, one is to be kept by Chartered Accountant & one is to be kept by you i.e. The Article.
Important documents that need to be submitted:
  • Attested copy of a mark-sheet of IPCC Exams. 
  • Attested copy of Secondary/ Higher School Certificate as proof of Date of Birth. 
  • Requisite Fees by way of Demand Draft i.e. Rs. (Rs.50 extra in case the Forms were downloaded online). 
  • Attested Copy of the completion of ITT & the Orientation Program.
Articleship Registration Fees

At the time of Articleship Registration, you have to pay 2000 rupees.In case you have paid the registration fees at the time of IPCC registration, there is no need to pay the fees again. You can pay the fees by the way of demand draft or cheque in the name of secretary and payable at Kolkata /Chennai/ Mumbai/ Kanpur/ New Delhi depending upon the region.
