Exam Tips for CA Foundation

Completing CA Foundation syllabus is not enough. There are certain other factors which can be responsible for your negative result. For example, you have not reached the center on time by any reason, or you won’t be able to attempt the complete paper, or you have not read the questions properly, or you commit a mistake while filling the OMR sheet etc. There can be multiple reasons behind your negative result. Hence you need to be careful about such other factors also.

Here we are sharing with you some of such Exam Tips which you should be careful -

CA Foundation Exam Tip 1 -

First and foremost CA foundation tip is -On the day before an exam, arrange your box which needs to carry in the Examination Hall. It should contain your Admit card, 2-3 Pens (Black), Calculator, Pencil and other things you think you will need in the Examination Hall. Last minute hurry can make you forget such important things. Remember, only physical admit cards will be allowed into the examination hall. You will have to submit mobile phones at the center outside the examination hall.

CA Foundation Exam Tip 2 -

You must have already visited the center at least once before the exam. This will save your time on the exam day for searching it and save you from getting late in the examination hall.

CA Foundation Exam Tip 3 -

Leave the Home estimating to reach the center at least ½ an hour before the exam. From such half an hour, you will get 15 minutes extra to read your paper carefully which should not be missed at any cost. And 15 minute should be kept as a Backup because we never know what difficulty we can face while reaching to the center.
Exam Tip 4 -

Take a proper sleep before the exam to avoid feeling dizzy and sleepy in the Examination Hall. If you are tired, your efficiency will get reduce and you won’t be able to give your 100%. Hence, proper rest is very essential before the exam.

CA Foundation Exam Tip 5 -

Avoid any unhealthy breakfast. Any unhealthy breakfast can make you feel sleepy and dizzy or it might also result in stomach ache and resultant you can lose your focus from the Paper. Hence, the breakfast should be healthy like fresh fruits (apple, banana etc) and milk.

CA Foundation Exam Tip 6 - 

Reach 15 minutes early in the examination hall so that you can utilize the extra time given to read the paper carefully. Read the questions properly and set your priority to attempt the questions. In such 15 minutes, you should plan which questions you are going to answer first. Choose to answer the questions first which you know best and confident about.

CA Foundation Exam Tip 7 -

Allocate your time to be spent on each question. This will able to manage your time from the very beginning and you will be able to attempt the complete paper.

CA Foundation Exam Tip 8 - 

You will find some question in the paper where you will feel that you know them best but when you start doing such you get stuck. Such questions are very tricky therefore you should move on before they stress you. Don’t give any extra time to such question compare to your plan. Leave an extra space in your answer sheet so that if you left with any extra time at the last, you can come back and solve such questions.

CA Foundation Exam Tip 9 -

Try to complete the paper at least 15 minutes early. So that you will get time to check the answer sheet at last. Also, write the question number on the front page of your answer sheet which you have attempted. Check you have written your Roll No. correctly on the extra sheet (if any) and attach properly with the mainsheet.

Draw a line against any rough work you have done in the answer sheet and any blank page leave in the middle.

CA Foundation Exam Tip 10 -

Two of the Papers in CA Foundations are objective based. Hence, you will be given OMR sheet for such papers. Often students fill the OMR sheet at the end of a paper, a few minutes before the exam. But this is the biggest mistake. Filling OMR, at last, can result in the following -

Time is over and invigilator may take your answer sheet.


Continuously filling may result in one negative filing of the answer. For example, while attempting the paper, you left Q5 but while filling the OMR sheet, you fill the answer 6 in such. Because you are filling sheet in sequence and it results in further wrong answers.


Filling OMR sheet in hurry may result in roughly filling of circles which may not scan properly and you may lose your marks.


These are some of the things which can happen when you fill the OMR sheet at last. Hence, fill the OMR sheet at the same time while attempting the paper. For example, after every 15 questions, fill the OMR sheet.
